Bicycling in Sea Pines

Welcome to the 17 miles of bike trails winding throughout our beautiful community and connecting every major activity area within the Sea Pines resort. These paths will lead you to such sites such as the Forest Preserve, Lawton Stables, Harbour Town, Sea Pines Center, Sea Pines Beach Club, Sea Pines Plantation Club, Stoney-Baynard Ruins and South Beach Marina Village.

All of our paths are shared by joggers, rollerbladers, and walkers. To ensure that everyone enjoys our paths please read "Rules of the Road" below. For your convenience maps are posted in strategic locations throughout the path system. Print a copy of the Sea Pines Bike Trail Map.

 

Rules of the Road

  • Stay in single file on the right side of the path.
  • Use of roadway, where bike path exists, is prohibited by bikers, joggers, walkers, and rollerbladers.
  • Be aware of motor vehicles. They are not required to stop for bikes.
  • Be considerate of pedestrians and warn them of your approach at least 50 feet away.
  • Safety equipment such as helmets and horns/bells are recommended for bikers; helmets and kneepads for rollerbladers.
  • Obey all state and local traffic laws, including the use of hand signals and observance of traffic signs.
  • Guests who leave Sea Pines must obtain a pass code reflected at the gate exits to gain re-admittance to the bicycle paths.
  • Please refrain from riding on golf cart paths.
  • Racing or high-speed operations of bikes or rollerblades is prohibited.
  • Night biking is dangerous and is not permitted in Sea Pines.
  • Motor vehicles should never stop and wave a cyclist on. This will and does cause accidents in Sea Pines.
  • Use of paths in Sea Pines is limited to residents and guests.

Bicycle Rentals in Sea Pines

There are several bicycle rental shops in Sea Pines, The Sea Pines Resort Bicycle Shop, located at the Plantation Club Center, South Beach Cycles, located adjacent to the South Beach Racquet Club and Bikes Plus at The Sea Pines Center.

Bicycling on Hilton Head Island Beach
  • Located at the entrance to the Plantation Club on Lighthouse Road.

  • Free delivery and pickup on three day and weekly rentals.
  • Quality Repair service available.
  • Also available: child carriers, baskets, helmets, locks (free with every rental), kiddie karts, adult three wheelers, Trail-A-Bikes, youth and children sizes.
  • Bike riding on the beach is allowed, however, chains tend to come off because of the sand.

South Beach Cycles

  • South Beach Cycles is located at South Beach Racquet Club next to The Salty Dog Cafe.
  • Bike rentals in all sizes with optional pull carts and tag-a-longs, adult tandems and adult trikes, all including free baskets and locks.
  • Free delivery in Sea Pines for rentals of three days or more.
